BFSV research into mould prevention

Mould endangers leather products and corrugated board packaging. It can grow under certain conditions during transport, transhipment and storage.

In a BFSV research project we determined the spore levels that can be expected to arise during production, manufacturing and logistical processes. We also succeeded in showing how the risk potential can be monitored on the basis of qualitative and quantitative parameters. To this end we defined critical limits and appropriate monitoring points.

In our research, we took a holistic view of all relevant processes at manufacturers, tanneries, carriers and shipping lines. We were able to develop a universally valid prevention strategy which can be regarded as “good manufacturing practice” – GMP. Companies can integrate it in their own quality assurance systems and adapt them as needed to changes in boundary conditions.
